Comfort with Clarity at All Distances Vision Care Product News, July 2008 |
|
| Accu Lens' newest aspheric multifocal GP contact lens, Clarity Plus, allows for an alignment fit without sacrificing sharp stable... (more) | ||
Accu Lens aptly named its latest introduction Clarity Plus Extended Add Gas Permeable (GP) Multifocal Contact Lens to sum up the features the lens addresses: clear vision and comfort in a useful multifocal design with an extended add range.
THE GENTLE LENS
Proven to be structurally more durable than comfort-based soft contact lens, GP lenses have a lot to offer including long lens life expectancy and being constructed of a material that is known to be very "kind" to the eye. How can a contact lens be "kind?"
Accu Lens uses the patented Paragon Vision GP material that incorporates Fluid Edge Technology, which combines a dual system aspheric posterior curve with a thin profile design and an Aqua Wet plasma treatment. Paragon's GP high Dk lens material allows for an exceptional tear flow on and around the lens surface, adding to the improved comfort as well as the health of the cornea.
Surface wettability is crucial for the stability of vision when wearing contact lenses. It is well known that the more silicone a lens has, the more oxygen permeability occurs. Using Aqua Wet technology allows for an increase in tear flow and oxygen transmissibility (Dk).
In addition to making the lens eye-friendly, Fluid Edge Technology and the Aqua Wet plasma technology, teamed with Paragon's GP lens material, also creates a GP lens that is comfortable on the eye.
MULTIFOCAL DESIGN
The Clarity Plus Extended Add Gas Permeable Multifocal Contact Lens is a dual aspheric design that "acts" like a translating multifocal lens. The pupil of the eye alternates between the distance vision and the near vision zones, depending on whether the gaze is up or down. The eye adapts to looking through these two systems and will choose the appropriate power that it needs for that visual task.
Indicated for presbyopes with corrections up to +3.50D add, the lens' proprietary dual aspheric enables the practitioner to use an alignment fit. This eliminates the need to fit excessively steeper than flat K. Its aspheric multifocal design makes the zones easy to find and easy to use. And the +3.50D extended add range means that just about any presbyope can be fit with this lens.
When you add all its features together, the Clarity Plus Extended Add Gas Permeable Multifocal Lens provides all the necessary tools to serve all your GP patients, no matter what their add may be.

Accu Lens Inc. recently launched its Clarity Plus dual aspheric GP multifocal contact lens for patients who need up to +2.50D add. According to Accu Lens, its proprietary dual optics allow for an alignment fit without sacrificing sharp stable vision at all distances.
Accu Lens also now offers the Aqua-Wet Plasma Treatment, a cold gas plasma energetic process that uses oxygen and electrical energy to transform the molecular structure of a GP lens surface. Lenses treated with Aqua-Wet have enhanced wettability to improve patient comfort, according to Accu Lens. The company recommends the treatment for patients who have dry eyes or oily tear films or who are new GP lens wearers. Call (800) 525-2470 for more information.
